<p>James L. Brooks certainly knows comedy. With one of the most lengthy and prestigious resumes in Hollywood, his career has included such television classics as <i>The Mary Tyler Moore Show</i> and <i>Taxi</i>, as well as an impressive group of feature films, which include <i>Terms of Endearment</i>, <i>Broadcast News</i>, and <i>As Good As It Gets</i>. Brooks' credentials are impeccable. However, its hard to believe Adam Sandler would have been his first choice to play the lead in <i>Spanglish</i> . This role requires a sensitive actor that we can really empathize with. Sandler is a lot of things, but sensitive isn't exactly one of those.
